Reviewed by: Mark ,  Day Hiker , from Stillwater,OK

Price Paid:  $260.00 at sierratradingpost.co

Summary:
This is a well-engineered, well made shell. The DWR finish is better than on my previous shell and the jacket has both more, and more sensibly placed, pockets and cubbies to stash gear. It has kept me bone dry on several ocassions even during a prolonged strong downpour. I can't vouch for long-term durability, but after more than one year of fairly constant use it is holding up well.

The only weakness--or minor complaint--is with the main zipper, which sometimes stubbornly refuses to engage.

Like a previous reviwer, I'd be hard pressed to recommend a MSRP $400+ shell, but at 40% off, it's a bargain

Customer Service:
I have no experience, but the reviews on this website look positive.

Other no name gore-tex shell and some lightweight, but ineffective "waterproof" jackets for cycling.

Price Paid:  $220.00 at Sierra Trading Post

Summary:
I purchased this for a NOLS semester in Alaska which I have scheduled for the summer. I got the jacket this winter in order to put it through some tests before I depend on it daily. I've made an effort to abuse it a bit in order to insure its up to grade. Can't complain, didn't pay much for it, it works as advertised, the hood works very well and the pit zips are nice and big. XCR is better than regular GTex but if you sweat like I do you produce more moisture from inside than out. All in all a great purchase, I spent two days in NH backpacking in constant rain, this kept me dry. Additionally, it looks good on the streets in Boston and functions well in the hills. Not sure if I'd pay $440 for any jacket but this can be found at a better price. A zipper for an inside liner is the only upgrade I'd add.

Customer Service:
No experience with them but their reputation makes me confident that they'll be there if I need them.

Reviewed by: Guillemot Marc ,  Backpacker , from Montreal, Canada

Price Paid:  $450.00

Summary:
The design is just great with 2 inside pocket, an exterior (hidden) pocket, etc. Verry sleek and plain undestructible construction. Why the poor rating ? I've had two of those, and they both held water at the surface layer (instead of pearling away). I'm now waiting for my third garment (second replacement). Granted it's probably Gore's fault, but Mountain Hardwear either have a verry bad quality assurance dep. or they just don't have any! So beware if you plan on buying any of their XCR based products.

Customer Service:
Takes 2-3 weeks to get a replacement jacket. I guess that's fair.

Had a MHW vertigo (2 layer goretex) which worked great for 2 years then got delaminated. The mythril was supposed to be a 'better' replacement.

Price Paid:  $385.00 at Bever Zwerfsport Gro

Summary:
Best jacket ever! very light and very strong. Been trekking and climbing with it through Nepal. Temperatures ranging from +25 to -20 degrees celsius. even with strenuous excercise at 6000 meters it kept me dry and sheltered me from rain and snow. Strange colour though, blue seems rather purple.
