Summary:
Super nice bib/pants. these do everything advertised. breathe well. i can ski (resort and backcountry) and climb in these and stay dry and toasty.
Interestingly enough, I can shovel the driveway and sit on the couch before or after above activities and not roast in these.
Very abrasion resistant and awesome zipper quality.

Rated 5 stars for performance, quality, technicality, and innovation

Rated 2 stars for value. Should be at least 100 dollars less expensive. Very difficult to find arcteryx on sale. canadian dollar is less than 70 cents/ us dollar, so it seems that cost should be at least on par with others. very cost prohibitive for alot of outdoor enthusiasts

Summary:
These pants are great! Arc'teryx sure has their stuff together when it comes to outdoor clothing. These pants are gore-tex with zippers like all the others but it is Arc'teryx's superior design and construction which set them apart. Articulated fit, nice internal gaiters (with very useful grommet holes), tough fabric where you need it (especially on the inner ankle). The gaiter grommets are useful so that you can tie some cord to loop under your boots and not have to wear gaiters. (Although I would still put some on if I were wearing crampons... just wouldn't trust myself on a long descent with some shiny expensive pants on.) There are a few noteworthy drawbacks that have already been mentioned in reviews, both having to do with going #2 in the woods. The side zippers stop just below the waist and there is no quick release on the suspenders. These are minor in my opinion. Clips could easily be added to the suspenders. And unless you spend days on end actually inside these pants (which I don't think most people do), the drop seat, or lack thereof, isn't much of a problem. There is a crotch zipper for the more frequent calls of nature. Another often mentioned drawback of Arc'teryx gear is its price. Spend some time looking around and you can find some really good deals (I paid $199 for these with no tax or shipping).
Oh yeah - the waterproof side-zippers totally work and look totally cool! It's like wearing a pair of high-tech tuxedo pants on the mountain. Best pants I have ever worn

Summary:
I have used these pants Ice Climbing in New Hampshire and Winter Climbing in the Sierras and Cascades. They are great pants. They will work for all but the most extreme conditions. They are also very friendly with other gear such as harnesses, etc. They feel very light on and breath very well. They are well woth the price.

Summary:
I'd just like to say these pants are great there is no unwanted usless crap on these pants they are very stealth highly durable an waterproof I have used them on trips to the cascades. Including Mount Rainer, Mount Baker twice, and Denali in Alaska plus some other ski trips and for dnow camping. You definatly get your moneys worth the crampon pads are especially nice when you are not wearing gators and have crampons on. I would also like to say that the cross between a bib and pant is very nice the harness or your pack dosent chew up your pants and it is not quite a bib so you really get the best of both worlds. They havent failed me yet so give them a try.

Summary:
I'm not sure why someone might opt for the more expensive Alpha SV or the Theta AR pants--though I'm willing to be enlightened--as these pants have a fantastic feature the other two lack: an elasticized inner cuff with two grommets which allows one to run wire or shock cord under ones boots and ELIMINATE GAITERS! My only complaint is that there is no provision for unclipping the suspenders when nature calls (or yells, for that matter). This makes it necessary to remove ones parka, or snake ones arms out of their sleeves, to lower the pants. Apparently the necessity for a zipper garage for the waterproof zippers makes it impossible to run the zippers the full length of the pants. But, otherwise, when I wear these pants, I simply forget I have them on, no matter how the wind is blasting--they're light, supple, and well tailored.
