Summary:
Review of Thomas and Thomas 5 wt. Horizon II fly rod:

What can I say but this is the ultimate in cannons. Wind means NOTHING to this fabulous fly rod. I have used this rod for 13 years and it is the finest graphite rod I have ever owned. It can do it all. I use it mostly for largemouth and smallmouth bass and it is a fascinating casting rod. I can actually cast my fly line into my backing with this jewel. The people at T&T should be commended for building such a fine piece of casting pleasure. I love this rod and considering I own glass and split cane also, it will forever be my favorite to lay out line for distance and pleasure to cast.

Customer Service:
Don't know, I have always taken great pains to never harm the rod....

Summary:
My Thomas & Thonmas HII 905-4 is an absolutely amazing rod. I cannot say enough good things about it.

Customer Service:
Here's the rub. If you are NOT the original owner of a T & T rod, get ready to pull your pants down to get repair/replacement work done. The bare minimum to get a tip section replaced is $125.00 and likely much higher. I had this happen to me and got so freaked over the potential cost I jsut took the rod in and had a new end guide put on leaving the rod 2" short but my wallet in good shape.

I would recommend NOT buying a T & T rod unless you are the original owner. The customer service grief just isn't worth the trouble in my estimation.

However, if someone gives you a used T & T rod I would say "go for it".

Summary:
I have a 10 ft. 5 weight that I use for large trout and shad. It has performed extremly well in both lakes and rivers.
It is stiff enough to handle my shooting head system along with a varity of nymphing techniques...I love this rod!!!

Customer Service:
Great Customer Service. Had to replace the tip twice (my fault)

The craftsmanship of this rod is second to none. For normal casting distances this is a great rod for me. Best nymphing rod I own.

Summary:
I'm a big fan of T&T rods and now have them custom made for me. I have the HS905-4, and it really performs. Simple tip casts allows you to work small dries up close. This rod, to me anyway, feels more like med-fast action. The Horizon flexes beautifully, but recovers very quickly and smoothly! It's easy if not intuitive to throw out beautiful, tight loops. The addition of PacBay TiNitride guides only adds to its incredible performance. It's really quite easy to get a longish cast using a compact, accurate and relaxed casting stroke. As a nymphing rod, this is the rod for tactile response. I don't use indicators (personal choice) and somehow I feel well connected when using wets and nymphs with this fly rod more than any other. If you can demo any T&T rod for at least 2-days, do so. They are superb fly rod instruments....
