Rio Fluoroflex Tippet Leaders and Tippet Review

Rio Fluoroflex Tippet

Description
Fluoroflex tippet material is made from 100% PVDF(polyvinylidenfluoride). This is not a nylon. Fluorocarbon has a refractory index closer to that of water. This means that fish have a very hard time seeing anything attached to your fly.

Summary:
This is slightly better for invisibility that normal tippet, but slightly stiffer in my opinion. Can be helpful in very calm spooky conditions for you confidence. The biggest problem with it is that it does not biodegrade. Regular poly does. So I stopped using it.

Summary:
The standard Flouroflex is the ticket for salt water applications - largely because of its density and abraision resistance. The plus is too hard and causes breakage with strong fish and shock loads.

Summary:
By far, fluoroflex is the best tippet material out there, especially the Plus version. If you're a good fisherman, you probably don't need it, and if you're a bad fisherman, it really won't help, but you will notice positive marginal differences in shallow, clear water (Green and San Juan). Once you go fluorocarbon, you do have a tough time going back to other tippets.

Summary:
I use this product for all of my finicky fishing, where the water is clear and the fish are picky and spooked by other lines. It is great to be able to use a line size bigger, to help quickly land a fish for release with out horseing him around and exhausting them. Especially in winter when they are more vulnerable. Great product. Definitly worth using.....
