Hardy Golden JLH Reels Review

Hardy Golden JLH

Description
The best way to achieve a properly balanced outfit is with the JLH. The JLH, which stands for James Laughton Hardy, is engineered for the greatest strength in the lightest design. Inside is our widest-ranging spring and pawl drag. In the lowest setting anglers have just enough tension to eliminate back spooling.

Summary:
This fresh water reel is light & simple. If you are looking for a no hassle reel to match a light rod, this is the reel. You also cannot deny the beautiful sound Hardy is notorious for especially on a running fish.

Summary:
I would rate this reel a No 4/5 rather than the stated No6. Although build quality and pedigree are unquestionable, the caged design, and the tension knob gap would lead me to recommend the bar-stock Orvis CFO instead.

Customer Service:
Returned reel to factory to have grit removed from tension knob, turnaround was 31/2weeks.When reel came back there was unsightly glue residue around knob.

Summary:
A nice but expensive reel. I found the drag clicker noisy when you reel in or take line out.
