Jansport Olympic External Frame Backpacks

Jansport Olympic External Frame Backpacks

DESCRIPTION

Classic-style external frame pack is full of modern amenities for comfort and convenience when backpacking on the trail. Main compartment plus 6 pockets provide plenty of room to organize gear. S-curved shoulder straps with dual-density foam padding, load lifter straps and sternum strap are easily adjustable for different torso lengths. Dual-density foam padded hipbelt features a HDPE stiffener for even load transfer and stability. Gripper fabric in the lumbar area keeps the hipbelt securely in place. Mesh-covered back pad allows for ventilation. Lash loops, ice axe loop, daisy chains, side pole pocket and bungee cord let you easily attach gear to the outside of the pack.

This is a GREAT external frame backpack, incorporating the best features of an internal frame pack--load lifters, hipbelt stabilizers, beefy hipbelt. It holds an amazing amount of gear inside (about 5500 cu in for the tall size, which I have), and is comfortable to carry. This is a panel-loading pack, so you don't have to dig through your stuff to find things. It's the largest external frame pack Jansport made at the time (2002).
