Backpacker Summary: I have been backpacking for 19 years, and this was my first external frame pack. I took it last year on a 5 month solo expedition to Central America. It performed superbly. I was comfortable whether hiking in the jungle or up some mountains in Honduras. The mesh pouch on the outside is useless though! Customer Service: Superb. One of my stabilizers fell off after I fell down a steep hill in Guatemala. I called Kelty and it UPSd two replacements in 3 days! Similar Products Used: Gregory Denali Pro, Mountainsmith

Day Hiker Summary: I have only used this once, but was very impressed.
The pack can hold a lot. I took it on a three day trek through the Whites and removed the two side pockets as I just didnt need them. The sleeping bag pocket is nice.
I carried a 40 pound load during the trip and it felt like I was carrying my daypack. It is stable as can be as well - no clanking or shifting like my old external.
The only minor gripe I had was the shoulder strap. They tended to chafe a bit no matter how much I adjusted them. The material on them is a bit tough and I dont think it can be avoided if you are just wearing a thin t-shirt. It didnt chafe so much as to cause problems - but I just knew it was there at times.
All in all an amazing pack. Customer Service: havent needed to use them for this pack - but Hilton's is amazing when it comes to this stuff. Similar Products Used: EMS External Frame

Backpacker Summary: Outstanding pack. Carried 60+ pounds up an 8K peak in Nevada and it felt like 45. Well engineered, modifiable -- a U-haul for your back but with a very light-weight base weight. Customer Service: REI -- as always, outstanding Similar Products Used: Blackhawk, Gregory

Backpacker Summary: Great pack! Handles a big load, but also able to remove the back and side pockets for smaller, lighter loads. Very comfortable. Owned it for about six months. No problems. Customer Service: No need to contact customer service yet. Similar Products Used: Various internal frame Gregory and Mountainsmith packs.
