For all you smaller people out there, I highly recommend Gregory. As others have said, the suspension on this pack rocks. I especially like the adjustable cant feature. Bought this pack for winter hikes and snowshoeing but it's become my favorite all-around pack from hut trips to traveling in Europe. The compression straps are a bit long, but I've trimmed the offenders and added 3-bar loops to contain those I can't bring myself to cut. I agree with the comments that the mesh water bottle pockets are hard to access. Best feature is the fit--I'm 5'3" with narrow shoulders and this is one of the few packs that is comfortable.

Customer Service

Never used, but store clerk was knowledgable about product fit.

Great pack. Packed for a technical climb on Mt. Rainier and it performed well. Suspension is excellent and carried well on technical ground. The mesh pockets are a bit tough to fit a water bottle back into when on your back but with a little practise I managed. My biggest complaint is that the top lid hold down straps are poorly located and need to move out from under the mesh pockets toward the front of the pack more. They always seemed to be under my side load when I tried to snap them to the lid. Its a real issue as it really wastes what is sometimes valuable time digging them back out.

Awesome pack! I searched for a long time to find a simple, durable, comfortable pack that would accomodate long weekend trips as well as serve as a technical day pack. The Gravity is built with practical features like gear loops, a beaver tail, and a daisy chain. The mesh pockets are best used for storing PowerBar wrappers, but they''re overshadowed by how well this pack fits and carries loads anyway. I''ve had mine loaded up to 50lbs with no issues. That see through window under the lid is actually pretty useful too. Nice job Gregory.

This pack freaking rocks! I use it for all my 3 - 4 day trips to carry loads of 20 - 25 pounds. I am 6'2" tall and weigh 185 lbs. with a 19.5" torso. This pack clings to my back like it was glued on. Nothing shifts: this pack is one with my body. My one complaint is the way the compression strap goes over the mesh pocket. It functions fine, but is a little unwieldy. But then I'm nitpicking, aren't I? Bottom line: its pricy, but worth every penny.

I agree with the above reviews. It's a versatile and durable pack for medium trips. However, I wouldn't recommend it for trips longer than 4 days.

In over 40 yrs of backpacking--including several 600+ mile hikes over the Pacific Crest Trail and the Alps, and in writing an off-trail guidebook for Zion National Park--I've owned virtually every Kelty pack made, but haven't been overly pleased as of late. Last June I was in REI looking for a mid-sized pack for trekking hut-to-hut in the Alps and saw the Gregory Gravity on sale. I bought one. Wow!!
I can't use enough superlatives to describe this wonderful pack. Everything about it is simply the best, in terms of ease of carrying a load around 20-30 lbs. I raved about it so much last summer in the Alps that my wife, a relative neophite at backpacking, wants one, too. And for carrying heavier loads, I'll be purchasing a Shasta or Lassen in the near future. Ive completely worn out one Kelty Super Tioga, and I'm giving away my latest one. I still think the Super Tioga is a very good external-frame pack . . . but I suspect that for me, its bye-bye, Kelty, from here on.
Praiseworthy feature of the Gravity: Virtually everything is adjustable. You can buy shoulder straps and hip belt that really fits you: they're all interchangeable.
On a scale of 1-10, the Gravity gets a solid 10. My five-star ratings of the Gravity takes into consideration that this pack is pricey: even at the listed price of around $200, you will get a lot of bang for your buck.

If you pack light or you can rat pack well this is the pack for you. I took this on a week long trip through the Winds in Wyoming carying my gear, and a lot of group gear. The gravity packs really well, it fits really nice with the gregory fit system and the suspension is awsome. I strongly sugest this for long weekends or light packing weeks.

Customer Service

I have not dealt with customer service yet but i have talked to some reps about sizing and they really work for their customers.

This is a great pack! The top of the pack is adjustable allowing you to cram a little more gear into it, if the need should arise. The beaver tail also allows additional storage, especially for a climbing rope or snow board. The side compression straps work well but limit access to the side water bottle compartments. The Pack has a very comfortable hip belt, much like one you would find on a larger pack. I must say that this is the best weekend pack I have ever owned.

This is a really nice mid sized pack. Its suspension is awesome and something you don't find on most packs in this size range. Durability seems good (like other Gregory's); I haven't had it too long but don't expect any problems. The only complaint comes from the compression straps. They do their job fine, but the lower set makes it hard to use the mesh pockets (or at least a hassle putting Nalgenes in and out). The top set has a nice quick release setup to facilitate shovel pocket use, but this creates some unnecessary friction when cinching it down. To add to the compression strap woes, the strap that goes from the top of the shovel pocket over the bag closure has the same quick release/friction issue. Despite these minor problems, the pack great. At $190, it's not the cheapest but it is a great deal.
