I purchased my very first mummy bag from LL Bean, the Knife Edge 35 degree bag which came in hunter green with a grey liner and yellow trim, back in the winter of '98. When I purchased it, I ordered the regular length but it proved to be too short for my 6'1" frame. So the nice folks at LL Bean exchanged it for the long size which was perfect! The sleeping bag proved to be a great warmer-weather bag but not so great for colder months due to the smaller amount of Hollofill 2 insulation. I used this bag on numerous backpacking trips in southeast Ohio's Wayne National Forest and it performed just dandy! Very packable. It finally started to wear out so I purchased an ALPS Mountaineering Silver Springs 20 degree bag to replace it because LL Bean no longer makes this particuliar model. The ALPS bag is also very good and would suggest it to anyone, very similiar to the Knife Edge Bag with the only exception that the LL bean model has a "flat" hood while the ALPS model has a contoured hood.

Customer Service

This is an excellent bag! Its perfect for that summer camping when it doesn't get that cold, but still chilly enough. I use it for backpacking because it can be compressed enough to make room for other equipment. Its lightweight and and durable too. Its very affordable so even the cheapest camper can afford a good bag. This is a good bag for the beginner and most experienced camper.
