Backpacker Summary: Bought several of these packs around five years ago, and just wanted to chime in. Not very large and not many pockets, but has the basics: two big waterbottle mesh side pockets and a front pocket. Mainly the harness system is overkill and designed to haul heavy loads of maybe 40-50 pounds. The big gripe I have with the original version of this pack (the ones I have) is the pack weighs a ton! It's a very heavy pack for the size, but I guess there's no free lunch. It's due to the heavy duty fabric and the, the large hip belt, and the plastic framesheet.

Mountaineer
, from Provo, UT Summary: This pack rocks! I've used it mountain biking and backpacking in the Andes mountains, traveling around the Caribbean, hiking around Zions National Park, and also used it as a traveling pack on tons of flights around the world. This pack is indistructible. I love the hydration pack capability and the several small pockets it has for easy access. Great waterbottle holders too. Wonderful pack that lives up to the great MountainSmith name. Similar Products Used: None

Backpacker
, from Merrick Summary: I thought I might need a bit bigger pack but this one suited me fine. I wished the waist belt was a bit thicker or canted for my hips, but overall it is very comfy. The best part is the weight comes off the shoulders and seems to sit on my lower back and waist.. Similar Products Used: Gregory Shasta - Too big for my needs

Day Hiker
, from Singapore Summary: I bought the Bugaboo in 95 had have been using it for 5 years. I've thrown it, kicked it, dropped it, use it in the Himalayas...It's a functional pack for a 3-5 day trip. The side handle comes in useful. I like the harness of the pack. The pack has an internal frame as well.Great and wonderful pack! Customer Service: The later versions do not seem as tough and as durable as the old ones. The velcro in the front pocket has lost it's function. Similar Products Used: None
