This is a fantastic tent. It is incredibly roomy, the doors are huge and easy to use, and the rainfly with the vestibules on either side is fantastic. Other reviews mentioned performance in the rain, and I can vouch for the tent and say that even in reall downpours, it has been water tight. Like any Kelty product I have used, the tent is way cheaper than comparable products from other manufacturers and never lets me down. though it may be a little on the heavy side, I recommend it for any recreational backpacker.

Everything about this tent held up to par. The dual entrance/exits on the tent and fly can be really convenient. Easy setup/disassemble.
My only minor complaint is that the stakes can be bent easily on semi-hard soil.
Overall value is good.

So far I'm very pleased with my Cyclone 2. I've only had it out on 4 long trips but I can say the functionality and design of this tent rocks.

The inside mesh pockets and gear loft are a real treat at the end of the day when cleaning out your pockets and drying light items.

In the store I questioned the salesman's claim that the vestibules would harbour all my gear and keep it dry. After 2 trips where it rained more than 2 days straight I can say not one item of my gear - inside or out in the vestibule - got wet. In addition and even more impressive is the ventilation. After 2 days/nights of rain in high humidity (about 100 feet from the ocean) there still was minimal condensation in the tent with 2 guys sleeping in it. Awesome! Should be extra cool in the summer too.

I hope that over time the material holds up. Although until I read the other reviews here I had not even considered that. The fly materials seem extra tough and the stitching is well placed. I only had to seal one seam where I saw it getting darker after the second day of rain.

Don't let some other reviews scare you off it's a great tent!

I purchased a Kelty Cyclone 2 Convertible from REI-Outlet.com for an outrageously cheap price of $ 177.93. So far, I've only had one occasion to use it, at my son's fourth grade class overnight field trip to Vallejo's Petaluma Rancho (an original 1830's California hacienda). After a busy day and night of being head cook (using Dutch Ovens over wood fires) for 30 kids and 12 adults, I slept very well in the Cyclone.

It has quite a bit of room on the interior and has two very large vestibules. I was particularly impressed by all of the pockets along the walls, as well as the gear loft. It will be a challenge to lose those little odds and ends, such as flashlights.

My one regret was that it didn't rain, so I didn't know how it would fair. However, I later found out from one the other parents who had been standing one of the two hour night watches, that heavy showers, with significant winds, had passed through the night. I couldn't even tell! Not only had I slept right through it, but there was no water inside and the tent pitch was just as tight as I had originally set it.

This is a great tent, especially with the convertible feature, for an even better price.

First purchase of an expensive tent, but I think it will be well worth it down the road now that I have used it. Wish I had done this the first time. Went on a weekend back pack trip last week. Tent was easy to set up and was easy to take down and pack back up in the stuff bag. Love aluminum poles. Two of us slept very comfortable. Had our back packs in the vestibule area and this worked great. In the morning we did have condensation on the inside of the tent that was frozen on in a thin layer. But we had not opened the air vents up in the ceiling. Outside temperature was a low of 15 degrees. The tent stayed comfortable. (relative speaking for a winter camp.) Really liked the pockets around the inside and the ceiling gear loft works nice but limits the head room. The zippers worked really well never had problems of jambing. Easy one hand operation. The two doors are great this is the only way to go. Tent was very sturdy compared to what I have been use to. The rain fly has air vents in the vestibule that have some type of material that holds the air vent open. Not sure what it is or if it will hold up over time. Not sure the plastic window is needed. When I unpacked my tent some of the blue tint off the window had stained the rainfly material where it a had touched.

I found the tent not to be durable at all. Fabric was not strong, constantly leaked. Zippers constantly jammed or would break. A nightmare of a time. I personally would never buy another Kelty product again.

Well I know normally I "STUFF" my tents and the rain fly... They fit well for me? I've rolled the cyclone and it took longer and just fit? Stuffing allows rapid bagging especially in wet or raining weather where you have to move on!

Great tent, used in 40 mph wind, heavy rain, great performance. Would reccomend to anyone. Large foot print, and wierd fly set up, but overall excellent.

This tent kicks butt. I was trying to decide between this and The North Face Peregrine. The shop didn't have the Cyclone to look at so they ordered it for me and The North Face is definately not worth the extra 45 dollars. The Kelty comes with 12 pockets and a gear loft for a great price. The changing windows and vents on the rain fly are cool too. It's a great deal. It should get 6 stars for value! The only problem I've found is that it is hard to get everything into the stuff sack. Otherwise it's perfect.

Got this for short $$$. A great tent for the price ($159). In my experience it sets up easier than any of the other tents I've had. Haven't had it long but it withstood the summer well.
