This is a great tent that can pass for a convertible 3/4 season. I bought the 1999 model on super-clearance and I probably couldn't find a better deal anywhere.

One thing, though, are the zippers on the door windows: there is a vertical zipper and a horizontal zipper. The vertical one pops off its track easy. Need that repaired. Otherwise, this tent is awesome.

If you want a tent that can stand all conditions, this is the tent for you. The newer models are slightly smaller. Mine could fit 4 guys in a pinch, three comfortably, and two with tons of room.

Customer Service

I have contacted customer service but have as yet recieved no reply. They were recently bought by MSR so maybe there are still glitches.

I USED THE WALRUS RECENTLY ON A 5 DAY TRIP TO THE BWCA. THE TENT PERFORMED ADMIRABLY. WE HAD 2 PEOPLE WHICH WAS THE PERFECT AMOUNT OF ROOM. PACKS IN ONE VESTIBULE, AND PLENTY OF ROOM INSIDE FOR 2 PEOPLE AND THIER PERSONAL GEAR. MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THAT IT IS REALLY DIFFICULT TO GET IN AND OUT OF. THE DOORS ARE QUITE LOW, AND IT REQUIRES GETTING ON YOUR HANDS AND KNEES AND CRAWLING THROUGH THE VESTIBULE.

MY BUDDY HAD A MOUNTAIN HARDWARE THAT WAS ALOT EASIER TO GET IN AND OUT OF.

OTHER THAN THAT, A GREAT TENT.
