This filter is cheap and light, but I can''t recommend it for durability. The first time I took it out, the handle broke off while pumping. Before it broke it worked well, although it seemed to clog easily. I wouldn''t buy one again, but if you buy it, treat it gently. I returned it and went with the PUR. Customer Service No complaints, returned the filter to REI. Similar Products Used: PUR Hiker. |

I love this little filter, i use mine all summer during my job as a Backcountry nat. park ranger, its light, small, filters to .2 microns, is very inexpensive, and plugs onto a nalgene well. The long hoses make it easy to use and after i lost the little brush it comes with to clean i was still able to do it with my finger in no time at all. Its very simple, and almost nothing can wrong on it, its only problem is that it is a little hard to pump, but not bad. After i looked around and used several other expensive filters i decided that by far this is the best filter for the dollar and would be suitable for anything but very long trips abroad. Great filter. Used it on a week long cross country Mountain Bike excursion and never got sick. Light weigt easy to pack and a great bargain. Only down side is it's a little tedious to pump. Similar Products Used: None |

Lightweight filter that is a tad slow and laborious to use if you need a lot of water. It works teriffic for 1-2 people who only want filtered water as opposed to purified. Customer Service REI outperforms expectations all the time Similar Products Used: PUR Scout & Hiker (top notch) |

cool filter!!!! it may be small but its the best one for it's size!!!! have been usingmine for the past three years and haven't had any problem with it, except when i changed the filter cartridge, have to change the entire filter housing. but aside from that it's just a great filter Similar Products Used: None |

If you compare this water filter to others like PUR and MSR, it has more bang for the buck. The unit is light and some what small. It comes with a carrying bag and all the tools needed to clean it. One downside is the fact that replacing the filter piece requires you to buy the main housing of the pump. It is kinda strange. In general, this is the pump to get if you are a somewhat hardcore packer. It being freeze-proof and shatter-proof is good news to of us from Colorado. Similar Products Used: PUR and MSR |

I love my little filter. So its a little hard to pump, my buddies aren't complaining as they're enjoying good clean water. We always take two, mine and my freinds guardian. He may fill up his drom bag first, but I don't look like someone pissed all over me. After my freinds PUR got irreversably clogged we both bought these sweetwaters and we bought the silt filters to go with them which really cuts down the need to clean the things. We have both filtered probably 25 gallons each and we are both still on the original cartridge and they still look great. I prefer my walkabout over his guardian because it is so simple and compact. As Dana says "bomb proof" Similar Products Used: PUR |
