Grivel G 12 New Matic Crampons Crampons Review

Grivel G 12 New Matic Crampons

Description
This classic, 12-point crampon is designed for general mountaineering, mixed climbing and moderate ice climbing. Horizontally-oriented frame resists snowballing underfoot and flexes with rockered soles. New-Matic bindings are simple and efficient, allowing use of new, lighter weight mountaineering boots without significant welts at the toes. Front Zytel straps attached to the front posts anchor the toes, while clip-in cams secure the heels; nylon ankle straps fasten with 2 ring buckles. Crampons adjust easily without use of tools; one size fits U.S. men's 5-15.

Summary:
Great pair of crampons. They have held up well in the snow and ice. They haven't bent during some brief periods of mixed climbing. They New matic system seems like a great idea, they are easy to put on and hold tight to the boot and I don't have to worry about them popping off. They have a slight flex to them which makes walking in them relatively comfortable.

Summary:
Great all-around crampons just like Grivel intended. Been using this pair for about 3 years and never one bit of trouble. The heel bail and front strap combination makes putting them on and taking them off a breeze compared to full strap on crampons but with the added security they won't fly off like full step-ins. Very sturdy design wether on snow, ice, or rock.
