The boots are terrible. The plastic started cracking after wearing them twice and the boots literally fall apart. And since the boots are no longer made, no service, no repairs, and no refunds.

Customer Service

Customer service was absolutely no help. Koflalch is owned by Atomic and the Atomic customer service says that Koflach boots are no longer made, and that there is no longer any warranty service available.

I have a love/hate relationship with these boots. The shell and warmth are great. however, the liner started to disintergrate after 3 or 4 trips, and compressed so much that i started to have boot fit issues. Several of my friends have the same problem with the liners. I since had custom liners made when I was in Colorado at Neptune Mountaineering, and wow, what an improvement. They cost 145, with the fitting, and are the best thing you can do for these boots. Be very cafeful with boots fit. Buy them tight, and wear them for a couple of hikes to let the liner compress. I wear a 10.5 street shoe, and bought an 11 shell, and should have gone with a 10. the custom liners fixed this, but i'd rather have a smaller volume shell. The rubber toe rand will come off after a few ice trips, but it's pretty non functional, so not a big deal. oh, and i LOVE the color!

Customer Service

Sucks. They didn't know anything about there product, and actually led me down the wrong path, when i was looking for a new liner. They told me that all the liners fit all there boots interchangeably, but they don't and it took me ordering liners to find this out.

I had the Koflach Degre boots and used them in -5F temps once. My foot almost froze off so I returned them and paid the difference for these boots. These are MUCH warmer. With the Degres I couldn''''t stand around much in 15F weather or my feet would start to get a little cold. With these boots my feet were warm the whole time. I have a wide foot with a low arch so these are the only plastic boots that fit me comfortably.

i got 10% off with the alaska alpine club membership (which is only $15!!) i did not have a lot of options to try up here in fairbanks so i went with the warmest they had. i am totally satisfied with the comfort, and i have had my talus joint fused on my right foot. yes, they flop around a little on vertical ice, but i dont know how anyone could expect a super tight firm boot that allows excellent circulation and comfort while hiking. these are contradictory features in my experience. if you want a comfy, warm boot, this is a fine choice.
bring your crampons for any slick surface, vibram soles will have you on your ass in no time at all. add a 40lb pack with that and you will want your mommy.

Well, The boots are warm, but having large feet I have been screwed over big time... This is because of the fact that 13 are impossible to find and so I had to go with 12.5 which is what I wear normally, but therefore, I have reduce the amout of swelling room. I got the boots, and they are HUGE The hardest part of climbing was having to haul a snow-mobile on each foot. The ankle doesn't give enough upward support and therefore the overall support is a little sloppy, this shouldn't happen because I have thin ankles, but I the cuff is very wide almost unaturally so. I think this boot is totally unecessary except in the most severe conditions. Any other place it is just too much boot. Crampons impossible to find for this size (since a 12.5 inside equals something like a 15 at the sole)! I did like the ball-bearing lace-ups tho...

The only thing I have to say about these boots are that they will not exept any crampons if you have size 13 boots. I bought the boots and then found a great deal on some crampons. However, when I recieved the crampons, I found that the boot was too wide to acomidate the crampon's bail. I took the boots back to the shop and tried every crampon bail ever made. The boots were just to wide.

The new model is comfortable and warm. Ihave used it for several days of walking and climbing. It walks well but when climbing steep waterfall ice it is a bit sloppy.
I found it is not available in half sizes (even if they are marked so) they are only made in whole sizes makeing an exact fit tough. I liked the older model as well or better, it seemed to fit my foot more exactly.

Customer Service

Had trouble with my old liners and the manufacturer was more than helpfull. They worked with me untill I was satisfied with a replacement.

The single most comfortable boots I have EVER worn. I have poor circulation in my feet due to motrcycle accidents and warmth tends to be my problem. These boots provided all the warmth I could ask for. I climb on Mt Shasta every month and I make journeys to Raineer every spring. Excelent boots, a bit pricey, but you pay for quality and comfort.

Boots are very warm, yet comfortable in warmer weather (in the 30's or 40's). I am more of a mountaineer, but I found the boots acceptable on steep ice. However, they tended to slide a around a little on the steep stuff. If I was just ice climbing, I might try something else. They are super comfortable on long walks. A great overall boot.

I think these boots are great ! I had used another brand of plastic boot previously and got frostbite. These boots kept my feet warm in even lower temps than when I got the frostbite. I walked and climbed for miles in the Koflachs and found them very comfortable.
