Summary:
I bought my pair of Glacier in 2005 for a 3 week trek at high altitude and rough terrain in Peru. Since then I have used them for long backpacking trips in the California Sierra and a 21 day continuous trek in the Indian Himalayas.
I never had to break these boots in. I have a very hard time finding boots that fit due to my long and narrow feet with high arch(I have a size 11).
These boots feel like slippers and my feet are saved during long backpacking trips with a heavy pack. These boots offer good stability in difficult terrain. I put about 500 miles on these boots. However, after I came back from my last long trek, for some mysterious reasons, the left boot did not fit anymore. It feels like my boot had shrunk although the shoe looks normal. I know my foot has not grown because all other shoes fit. The boot must have lost its shape in one way or another. I don't know what happened but I suspect the leather is not of the best quality. I religiously clean and apply the proper treatment to my boots after each trip. I did purchase another pair 2 weeks ago because of the great fit. Hopefully I don't have to replace them again after 500 miles.

Customer Service:
I contacted La Sportiva regarding my concern about the left boot but got no answer. I think they could at least have responded. To me this reflects poor customer service.

Summary:
Purchased these boots with the thought that they would be a good, durable mountain boot. After one summer, they showed significant wear. Within a month into the next summer, the toes started to separate from the boot. Being the height of the season I didn't have the time to be without boots. The right toe finally separated before I had time to send them back for warranty consideration. A pair of mountain boots for $220 dollars oughta hold up for more than weekend outings. But that's what La Sportiva calls "normal wear and tear" My buddy has the same boot and already showing signs of wear. Try some Garmonts if you want a boot that will hold up to actual use.
