A pretty good paddle for a beginner-intermediate. It was my first paddle and I beat the death out of it and its still in pretty good shape. I like the shape, but it a little on the heavy side. Not a bad paddle but theres better paddles out there for the price I paid for it.

This is a surprisingly good paddle, exceeding my expectations. I had tried out the Werner Sidekick and the Freestyle, and the Harmony Rapid Passage compares very favorably. Yes, out on the water the Werners are the cooler of the paddles, but if that is not a factor for you, you might want to save a few bucks and buy the Harmony Rapid Passage. The feel of the paddle is very solid, and the quality of construction is excellent. When I first took it out, there were some disconcerting cracking noises that I suspect was settling of the materials, but since then it has been very solid. The shape of the blades are similar in shape to the Werner Freestyle, in that it doesn't grab the water immediately like the Sidekick. They are a rather plain gray color, so they aren't as cool as the translucent Werners, however, they have a very rugged feel to them like they could take a pounding and still hold up. In fact the Werners look rather fragile, but I know they aren't. Coming from a Werner fan like me, it takes a lot to convince me of another paddle other than the tried and true Werners. However, I would recommend this paddle for surfing, if you need a paddle that will be taken to limit in coral and large volumes of pounding surf and at the end of the day take you safely home.
