I own a pair of atlas 833 and the same thing happened when I was starting a hike with a group. Binding broke and I ended up renting a pair of snow shoes. Called atlas looking for replacement bindings and they said they don’t make them. Never again will I buy or recommend atlas snow shoes.

Received a pair of Atlas 833 snowshoes a few years ago as a Christmas gift, and having used them more than 5 times for short distance hikes. Went to strap them on a week ago and had the polymer material used to make the bindings completely snap and appeared dried out !!!! I've attempted to buy a pair of Atlas bindings to repair these broken bindings, but Atlas claims they are obsolete and apparently will NOT sell the newer upgraded bindings ( i.e.- model 12 SRS ) to use as replacements. I have multiple pairs of K2 skis, all very high quality offering years of service. VERY DISAPPOINTING that K2 ( the owner of Atlas snowshoes ) doesn't offer more assistance nor replacements for these obviously substandard quality 833 bindings. I find it reprehensible that I will be forced to send these snowshoes to the landfill because they supposedly can NOT be repaired with alternative bindings !!!!!!

Basically the same scenario as the two previous reviews. The only difference being that I got a few uses (not more than 10 miles) out of mine before the same catastrophic failure occurred. This was despite the TLC I show all my gear because I am on a VERY tight budget. Would love to hear whether anyone found a good repair solution!

My experience is almost identical to the previous review. Approximately 10 years ago, we bought my parents a new pair of Atlas 825 & 833 snowshoes. They never wore them and eventually gave them to us. The 1st time out the plastic binding on both pairs broke.

Customer Service

Unfortunately I didn't purchase them at REI, but they were helpful in contacting the company for me and were willing to send them back to Atlas. Atlas told them that they couldn't fix them as they didn't carry that model anymore and would not replace them because they were too old. Never mind that they were basically new. I would highly recommend purchasing a different brand, that stands behind their product.

I bought a pair of 833 and first time out the plastic foot bindings broke in multiple places, a complete failure of the product. Fortunately I had some cord with me to fashion a temporary repair and make it back to my car. I had to cut my planned outing short due to this.
In addition, I have 4 pair of 825’s bought to loan to friends. Rivets on these have popped out repeatedly; I have had to replace them with stronger steel rivets. The plastic foot binding has broken on one of these as well.
These items should be built to last for several years, not destruct with the first use. The materials used in their construction is second rate. I will never buy another Atlas product.
