Mountain Hardwear Gore WindStopper Tech Pant Fleece Pants Review

Mountain Hardwear Gore WindStopper Tech Pant

Description
Worn as either an outer or an insulation layer, the Gore WindStopper Pant provides windproof/breathable protection for the legs. The seat is reinforced with highly abrasion-resistant polyester to withstand contact with rock and ice; the (articulated) knees are covered by waterproof AmbushTM patches (kneeling on snow will no longer be a nightmare). The crotch is gusseted to accommodate a full-range of moves. Two-way, fully separating side zips (with no-snag draft flaps) allow for quick layer changes - even while wearing boots, crampons, or skis.

Summary:
I've been quite happy with these pants after I special-ordered a pair of suspenders that are an option for them. The pants have pre-sewn velcro attachment points for the suspenders, and I would say that MH should just provide the suspenders with the pants in the package. Aside from this issue, the pants are quite nice. Very well constructed from PolarTec Windstopper fabric with cordura reinforcements at the seat and knees. I love them for alpine climbing. One nice thing is that the windstopper fleece fabric is not slippery. I've noticed that self-arresting a slip on the snow is faster with these pants on because they aren't as slippery as nylon fabric pants. Although I've never been much of a fan of windstopper fabric for jackets (I always feel a bit clammy in them for some reason), I've come to love these pants. I wear them a lot! They are not fully waterproof; so they won't be much help in a rain storm. But they shed snow, mist and light rain acceptably; they are warm, windproof and provide decent breathability for winter hiking and climbing. If the weather gets truly awful, you can layer goretex pants or bibs right over these.

Customer Service:
Getting the suspenders was much harder than it should have been. Otherwise fine.

Summary:
Strengths:
-Comfy
-Lightweight
-Warm
-Windproof
-Comfy
-Easy to get in and out of (full length side zips with storm flaps)
-Did I say that they were comfy?
Disadvantages:
-The velcro suspender attachment points can be irritating if they are up next to bare skin.

I think that these pants simply can not be beat (especially for the price I paid!!). These pants, in my opinion, are the reference for what fleece pants should be.

Summary:
This is the single greatest thing I have ever purchased. These pants are so nice. They are really warm, and can even be used as an outerlayer if it isn't wet. They have kept me warm many times, and I can't help but wear them all of the time!

There are some velcro things on the inside near the waist that kinda hurt if my shirt isn't tucked in, but that doesn't affect my judgement. I love these and they are worth much more than $200.

Summary:
WOW. Thats the only thing I can say about these pants. They are incredible. Lightweight, warm, warm, warm and the most comfortable things I have ever put on!! They work as an outer layer, a mid layer, whatever. These pants will not dissapoint. I have had mine for about a year. Wore them for a week straight in Wyoming, never seem to stay dirty somehow!

Customer Service:
The people at Mountain Hardwear are great. Helpful when a fleece of mine needed repair.
