Day Hiker
, from Bothell, Wa. Summary: I have had two pairs of Columbia Trail Grinder Low shoes and I am satisfied enough with that I'm looking for more. They are the most sure footed hiking shoe in it's class that I've purchased. I can step on wet, slimy rocks or slopes and these shoes really don't slip or slide at all. The sole material is excellent for walking and light hiking in Washington State in all condiions other than snow and mud where one starts to need more water protection. The down side of having superior traction is that the sole material is fairly soft. I only got about 4 or 5 months of use from them before the soles were worn to the point that the shoes had to be relegeted to "around-the-house" use. This tradeoff seems to be unavoidable. Harder materials generally last longer but also break traction and slip sooner on less than ideal surfaces. I prefer the safer, more sure footed shoe in the field and will buy some more when I can find them, however I'd like to find them for a little less money Customer Service: I've not had any contact with customer service Similar Products Used: Lowa, Addidas

Backpacker
, from Athens, GA USA Summary: I love this shoe. First pair lasted over a year. On my second pair now. I wear them everyday at my gymnastics gym while coaching. I have a wide foot and most shoes I wear blow out on the sides, but these never have. I don't use them for backpacking, but I do tumble and bounce tramp with them. Very comfortable to wear all day. Similar Products Used: I have tried over brands with similar shoes but have ripped on the sides.
