Backpacker Summary: I work out in a gym which is only for rowing . They, of course, use the concept 2. At home I have a waterrower and find it a far better workout than the concept 2 for the following reasons. The concept 2 has a "catch" problem at the begining of the stroke which causes an ever so slight jerk. The sound and feel aren't like true rowing. The waterrower on the other hand sounds like the water and the feel as you increase your stroke rate is smooth and consistent. For overall short and long term it is the best.

Climber Summary: Tried lots of fluid rowers and they all tried to be something they weren't so when I hopped on the WaterRower it felt a bit "soft" however the guy told me to try a 2 minute blast.... wow, I was instantly sold.
My wife hopped on and so did my 11 yr old. All found it perfect without the slightest need for any "resistance adjustment" which Is obviously why there isn't any. Apart from being by far the best rower I have ever used, it looks just fantastic in our front room. Customer Service: The folks at GymRatz where superb. They answered every question for better or worse, and not once did they try and force a sale. Best of all they gave me a free WaterRower Heart Rate kit and Polar Chest strap no extra charge. Mountaineer Summary: Outstanding fitness equipment for long-term use. Excelent value for money. Easy to stow, beautifull to behold, instant rowing, no maitenance, and provides a very demanding training. The Rolls-Royce for rowers. Customer Service: Friendly price, very profesional service, took a little longer than expected, though.

Paddler Summary: If you don't mind devoting a room in your home to looking like a gym, you may want to buy a Concept 2. But if you wish to have an attractive piece of "furniture" that takes up little space and still gives an authentic rowing workout, the Water Rower is terrific.
