I had the super karves and loved them but I had the early models back in '99-00 season and broke two pairs. One putting to much weight on the tails in the lift line showing off their flex and the second was my buddy sking the bumps. Other wise those skis held an edge like nobodies business.

Bought in 2005. Paid 75 for 195 steel Superkarve legends. Fitted with $50 closeout Marker Race Bindings. These are great and work for my big size. 6'-7" tall 350 lbs. Very confident and no chatter. Am a recreational skier.

This is not a review, but a request for information I've not been able to acquire. I'm 6'6", 250# and am trying to find direct, direct to ski manufacturers,(i.e., K2, Salomon, Atomic, Kniessl, etc, etc) regarding (particularly) slalom skis built to perform for someone over 160#. I am a veteran skier who has skied many brands and models over the years. Although this is the first shaped ski I've purchased, I did demo the top brands and models that were reviewed well by the ski press. The SuperKarve is all that the previous reviewers say it is.However, I have not had any structural failures or problems. They have not let me down in over three seasons of use ( 60+ days. I push them hard. My only wish is that they would have a bit more edge to edge quickness in the fall line.That may be an unreasonable expectation as they were never billed as a slalom ski and is more of a medium to long arc carver. The new version that Atomic is producing under the Volant label is reported to be lighter and quicker without the full metal jacket. It is a shame that this brand was the last American production, ski, transfering ownership to Canada and manufacturing from Colorado to Eastern Europe..........

Reccomend the power karve. Demo'd both and purched the power. I have had 2 knee surgury's and love them. They hold a line in soft,hard, and are the best all mountain skis on ice.I've demo'd all the best. Not a Great bump ski, but exellent at speed, stability, and forgivness. The best at busting through snowboarder crud the late afternoon supplies! Like a hot knife through butter. The older models tend to break on the superkarve. But the new models have had no problems that I've seen or heard. Never a problem with the powers. I'm 215 Lbs and am a power skier and a master ski tech who works at one of the top american shops. So I see it all. I own 2 other different skis but love this model as well. My girl friend owns the womens version and has demo'd them all. We ski at least 40 plus days a year each.

I skied the ''steel'' version of this ski, vice the Ti version. I work as a part time ski instructor and found this ski to be excellent for all terrian and conditions. It will carve the hardest surface, and contrary to what you hear has good rebound. Heavy in hand, it is very responsive and quick underfoot. However, I broke 3 in a season and a half. I am 50 and NOT a bump basher. Too many narrowed disc spaces! Two failed under the heal piece where the mounting screws penetrate, in one case I pulled ~ 4 inches of the top sheet off the ski. For the third one the cap separated from the bottom. Volant would not cover any of the 3. Too old. One was skiied on one season, the other two had two seasons.
