K2 Bike Magma Step in

K2 Bike Magma Step in

DESCRIPTION

The original step-in gets stronger, smoother and faster thanks to lightweight, super-rigid magnesium, the king of speed-chatter damping. New screw-adjustable damping gaskets continue the Clicker’s highly evolved nature, maintaining its position at the top of the step-in food chain.

K2 Clicker Magma
An evolution, that made these easy to use steps ins much better. It addressed ALL the issues with earlier models, even though perception is that Clicker's don't work as well as conventional bindings. That's just wrong. Magma's are v light, have a neat four way pressure gasket (their term) which maintains even pressure across the base of the boot, and of course are a brezze to use.
What of packing snow concerns? If you fall over in deep powder and have to walk / crawl to get going again, then it's an issue. But it's an issue with strap bindings too. It's the cleat of boot that the snow packs into. Keep your board tool handy for powder excursions (or don't take your feet out) and you'll love these. Great control, very responsive and of course, very fast (you don't even have to stop getting off a lift). I'm on my second pair, and I wish my Burton / boot binding step in combo step in system was as good.

Strength:

Ridged base plates. Great toe-heel control and responsiveness. Easy to use, and you never have to sit down on the cold snow if you don't want to.

Weakness:

None as long as you learn to clear snow from your boot before stepping in.

I have been using clicker bindings ever since they were first introduced in 1996. I still have my original titanium clicker base plates. The new series is even better. I agree that snow does pack into a boot but so does snow pack into a strap binding before you strap your foot down. Its all about learning the quirks of your equipment.

Although this product maybe built well and withstand alot of beating, the design is a terrible one. I liked this binding and disliked it. It was good because i never had a problem with them bending or breaking, but if you had to walk at all before getting into the binding snow would get jammed into the boot where the back springloaded piece would fit in. this made it impossible to get into the binding.
