Burton Face W Freeride

Burton Face W Freeride

DESCRIPTION

Victoria wanted a board to crush the stereotypes of what a women's board should be. She knows that women riders need a solid, stable platform under their feet in order to progress their riding. If a board is too soft, it will flap and chatter which makes it even harder for women to ride fast and land tricks. These boards can handle anything you want to do, whether it be in big mountains, backcountry, kickers, or anywhere else on the mountain. The Face is a snappy, solid, stable board built to handle all conditions. 100% developed and ridden by women. Sintered Base: Holds wax, is durable, and moves right along. Lite Triax: Light weight and torsional stiffness. Carbon I-Beam: Added snap. Super Fly II Core: Light, strong, and lively flex. Dualzone EGD: Precise edge hold. Progression Construction: Better float in powder. Sizes Developed by Women: All.

Strength:

Powers thru any conditions, carves great, goes FAST. Best for aggressive riders.

Weakness:

Takes a lot of effort and control to ride this board.

I loved this board! Took me a couple runs to get used to it, but once I got the feel of the turns it was fantastic. Held an edge thru serious crud on a 60 degree day. Feels strong underfoot, and you can go really fast and still be in control. Takes some strength to control though.

Strength:

Stability, direction, and light weight. The Face offers a great stable lightweight board for back country or just cruising around. Burton 2004 no longer makes this board.

Weakness:

Edges are sharp.

The Face is the best! You literally float over deep powder. Other boards would just plow; this board is so much fun. I ride a 160 and was very hesitant on such a long board. Not anymore. Looking forward to this season.

Strength:

this is an awesome board. the price is very affordable, i bought it mid-season. its also not too flexible (so theres no beginners feel to it and you can land some nice things) and its not too stiff, so its not a biatch and forgives you when you need it.

Weakness:

Kinda slow on heel-toe response, compared to other boards listed below (with same bindings). My lamination started peeling around the edges..i sent it back for free through an authorized dealer and they gave me a brand new board a week later. havent used this brand new board yet cuz the season ran out on me. hahaha

Awesome board.. ive been through several boards this season alone, in search of a perfect one and I think i''ve finally found it. With this Face 155 I wear Burton Freestyle SI boots size 10 and they are in the upper limit of foot size for this board. no overhang though so its cool. I use Burton Mission SI bindings.. they''re heavy but thats a different story..

Strength:

Lively, particularly through the turns, snappy and yet flexes enough to jump with forgiving landings...stiff where you need it, and not chattery. Superb sidecut and super narrow waist width for smaller feet.

Weakness:

Normal Burton weakness....stance widths are not easy as they only move in inches, rahter than the 4x4 hole patterns, so you can be 17,18,19 inches quite easily, but not 17.5, her preferred stance. Same with all Burtons, on a 4x4 you can slide along in any increment you like (as long as you don''''t need front/back adjustment).

This is a review on behalf of my wife...we bought her this board three days ago in a size 148. The women specific boards like this have really only been around the last two seasons. She loves the board, it''''s fast and stable at speed, something that she found uncomfortable before on shorter, stiffer boards....the board is stiff, but confident. The sidecut is outrageous on the 48, 6 and a bit metres!!! Now, that carves like it''''s going out of fashion!!
