Burton Rippey Freeride Review

Burton Rippey

Description
Rippey had one primary goal with this board – to make a board that could do it all. This is Jim’s seventh pro model with Burton because he knows what he’s doing when it comes to designing a board. With all that R&D, you can count on the Rippey 157.5 to take your riding to new levels. Sintered Base: Holds wax, is durable, and moves right along. Lite Triax: Light weight and torsional stiffness. Super Fly II Core: Light, strong, and lively flex. Dualzone EGD: Precise edge hold. Graphic Tech: Engraved tip protector.

Summary:
Bought this board because I wanted a pro level stiffness board not for freestyle, but for taking on 45 degree plus steeps where you don't want the board squashing out on you every time you land. For that, it's great, and the sidecut gives you just the right amount of finish. 158.5 is a good length for this board and I was happy that they lengthened it 2cm from the year before.

Summary:
This is a beautiful all-round board good for riders who like to do everything. However, if you lean a bit more towards carving, I would recommend a stiffer board like Salomon's 450 or Definition or Burton's BMC.

Summary:
This is one killer deck. Has no problem carving up the fresh powder or dropping into the pipe. Stable on the big landings and has good speed on the flats. Graphics are some of the sharpest I've seen.

Summary:
Awesome board all around. Fast with great control at high speeds. Flexible, and forgiving on off balance landings. Perfect for larger people, and leaves some room for bigger feet. Graphics are awesome, especially the top. I ride with Burton CFX bindings and the combonations great. Powder, park, downhill, it takes it all in stride. Highly reccomended

The sims and santacruz were awesome boards and very flexible, which is fun in parks. The floater was a little wide for me, even though it fit my feet rig
