Summary:
This review is for the 2001 K2 Axis Mod X Pro, 188cm long mounted with Salomon S912 bindings. Boots are Salomon Crossmax 10's. The skier is 6' tall and 180lbs, skis fast all over the mountain.
I purchased these skis after being away from skiing for several years. In the past I have only been happy with long GS skis. Last year I decided to take a chance and try an all mountain ski. I was not disappointed. These skis are effortless to turn, stable at all but the fastest speeds and incredibly versatile. As these are the first "shaped" skis that I have purchased, I did have to learn to ski them a little differently to get the most out of them. Very easy to ski as a cruiser but they really shine if you push them. Lots of rebound if skied hard. If you can only own one pair of skis these are awesome.
There still may be some good deals on these skis, especially in the longer lengths, if you look around. If you are a strong skier don't be afraid of the longer skis. In my opinion these skis do not ski as "long" as some other "All Mountain" skis.

Price Paid:  $499.00 at Ski Outlet, Westboro

Summary:
This is a great all around ski. I went short (174) and this ski rips. Turn it on edge and cruise, or throw it around for quick turns. Very nice out west, but suprisingly versitile for the east as well.

Summary:
This ski is the best ski I have skied on.
I am a light(145lb) but aggressive skier and the 181cm is perfect. They turn easily without effort but when you do put effort and power into your turns they are lively and spring back saying give me more. Very stable and confident at speed and in crud.
I read in the product specifications at the top of this review that it loves high speed long radius turns but I love it for its quick turning ability including in the moguls.

Price Paid:  $0.00

Summary:
The Axis X pro is a very good ski. The Axis X is so so. The X Pro is a great compromise ski in my humble opinion, bit there are better skis for the different conditions that the X pro can hanle. I have a pair of Merlin VI that have the same construction of the X pro (glass metal laminate) and they are the precursor of the X Pro but are thinner and longer: better on ice than the X pro/ I also have a pair of Xplorers that have the same footprint of the X pro,but are a little softer and are better than the X pro on soft snow. TOO BAD thta they do not make either anymore!

Customer Service:
OK. I once had a pair of ski replaced. However it took a long time and I had to go through the store where I bought them

Many. The X pro is compares well to most of them.

Summary:
On my last trip out West this year I demoed a handful of the top skis, and walked away with the K2 Axis XP as the clear winner. To sum it up "THEY RIP". I've never been able to fly through heavy crud faster, with the confidence I did. I tried the 188, but they're a lot to handle. The 181 is all you'll need. I ski agressively, and fast. Topping the scales at 220 the 181 never left me needing anything else. A must try ski!
