$0.00 Summary: I have currently put about 18 days on my scream 9 skies. This is a great all mountain ski. Love to do big mountain and powder on this ski. I have no difficulty with edge grip like previously mentioned. Great ski...I am very happy with this ski. Only reserve is that it is slightly softer than i would like. I am about 250 lbs. and have been skiing for almost 20 years. Great all mountain ski.

$0.00 Summary: The Salomon XScream Skis are magnificent. I first skied these at Jackson Hole about 4 years ago. I was so impressed with them that I purchased a pair of the Series models the next week. I have read reviews that were negative and have spoken with people that didn't like them. The only answer I have to this is that perhaps these folks aren't as good as they think they are. There are far too many big mountain skiers using the Excreme Series and Series Skies for them to warrent some of the low score I see here.
If you're a strong, agressive skier, try them. They eat up the mountain.
They are a little softer than the series.

at Cottam's Ski Rental Summary: I skied the xscream 9 at Ski Santa Fe this past weekend. Did not like the ski. Skis edges kept catching in the back (somtimes in the front). The rental agent said a lot of other people said the same thing.
These skis are for an aggresive skier only. They don't want to turn in the bumps, i.e., they want to keep moving forward and require a lot of effort to turn. They didn't feel all that good on groomed slopes either. They kind of take your breath away at 12k feet.
Also, I found they forced me backwards (although I have a racing boot that launches me forward with most skis). I'm an advanced intermediate skier with an off and on skiing span of at least 30 years.
My sympathetic neighbor (ex-ski patrolman) said I had a couple of "wild tigers" on my feet.
I skied the K2 mod x and the K2 escape 5500 in the prior weeks. Mod X is a nice, strong ski with few suprises. 5500 is a great ski for intermediate. It wants to turn by itself. Don't get them too short because they will bounce on that last few hundred yards as you try to make it all the way to the ski rack without skating.

at Rogue Ski Shop, Medf Summary: Phenomenal all mountain ski. Demoed them first at Mt. Bachelor - this ski has all of the great Salomon handling characteristics - quick response, laughably easy turning - coupled with outrageous performance in deep snow, wet crud or slushy West Coast powder. If it has a tiny defect, it might be agility in bumps - but nothing's perfect. Far and away the best all-around ski I've skiied. I have the X-scream 9's - purchased around 99-2000 - slightly softer than the top of the line X-Screams, but the softness adds all around skiability and versatility. Similar Products Used: Previous Salomon GS skis, including my old faithful 2S's, which seem, alas, like dinosaurs compared to the X-Screams.
