You don't have to fuss with an earphone. It is unfortunate that this vital piece of backcountry equipment is so expensive. Strengths: Easy-to-use

, from Edmonton,Alta., Canada Riding Style: the Rockies backcountry(B.C./Alta. Product Year: 1995 Summary: This has proven to be a very reliable transceiver and has never Quit on me. It is exceptionally light and easy to wear and is simple to operate. Novices have learned to operate it with relative ease bur like all these units lots of frequent practice is necessary. the one drawback is the smallish button to turn the unit down as you get closer. It is not easy to turn with mitts on. Also with the unit being used in normal horizontal search mode the distance markings can't be easily read. However for its price and ease of use and carrying it is a good buy.
