Summary:
I bought a pair of these used, they work great, but I noticed that on the bungee on the back of the bindings the rubber is cracking. It is not a big deal and easy to replace, but just thought I should say something. I have read the other reviews about the shoes and cant understand why people have a hard time pulling on the bunge, it takes very little strength, if any at all! It's no big deal. The shoes are excelent!

Summary:
I did a lot of web research and talking to a lot of snowshoers, and finally decided on the Yubashoes Cariboo. The heel bungee is tough to pull on, exhausting really, but I never fell out. I have only tested them on icy, crusty snow, but they didn't slip, and the asymmetrical design made walking natural. As a side note about the Ybashoes company, they are environmentally friendly and socially aware, check out their website.

Summary:
I just tried snowshoeing this winter and fell in love with winter! I assessed several brands: Atlas, Yuba and Redfeather. I finally decided to purchase the Yuba Cariboos. The binding arrangement is comfortable and stable, however, the heel bungee can be quite frustrating if your hands are cold and you're tired. I'm still trying to determine the best way to approach the ""pull"" of the bungee and I'm hoping it will slightly loosen in time. I'm also quite satisfied with the position of the crampons and the ease of both steep uphills, downhills, and laterals. The high value rating was due to the 30% discount I received at an ""end-of-season"" sale.

Redfeather binding laces were too short to handle my toasty (to -40 degree), but wide snowboots.
Altas ""across the instep"" binding straps put too much pressure on my instep and my toes ached within a mile. this happened with repeated rentals of the Atlas.
