Price Paid:  $320.00 at Alpen, Nagano, Japan

Favorite place to ride:
Nozawa, Japan

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:
2001

Summary:
Purchase price is in Canadian dollars.

These things look cool in the shop. Their weaknesses become apparent, though, from the moment you strap into them on the mountain.

Straps: having them bend in looks like a good idea in the shop, but on the mountain, you realize the straps will then always be in your way when you go to put your boot in. They are engineered, then, to rest in exactly the worst possible place.

Fittings: Fine, the design is wrench-free. However, I have to pull out my screwdriver and batten things down not every day, but every RUN. I'd rather just carry a wrench, thanks.

Highback: At its most extreme setting, the foward lean is merely adequate, not aggressive. Perhaps this will be of no concern to pipe monkeys, but if you're a pipe monkey, what do you need such a tall highback for anyway, and why does it have to be carbon?

Other than peices falling off all the time, the bindings are well-constructed and durable, and look cool except when you're swearing at them.

Strengths:
Tall highback
Look cool
Comfortable
No pressure points

Weaknesses:
Sloppy heelside control due to insufficient forward lean
Bits and peices always trying to escape

Price Paid:  $220.00

Favorite place to ride:
Big Mountain Whitefish

Riding Style:
FreeStyle

Product Year:
2001

Summary:
These are by far the best bindings me or my friends have ever used. Despite my small problems with them they still kick ass. This is my second review of these bindings but now I have had more experience with them.

Strengths:
Very good bindings for any type of rider freestyle or freeride, also very responsive and very comfy.

Weaknesses:
the ankle strap is two pieces and when I was at Big Mountain Whitefish in Montana the screw came lose and fell off and so did that part of the strap. Also, I had to take the highback locking thing off because it was very hard to adjust and I just said screw it and pulled the crap off.Its better that way anyway.

DPQ and Burton Freestyle bindings. They both sucked.

Price Paid:  $150.00 at Bobo's in Reno

Favorite place to ride:
Alpine Meadows

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:
2001

Summary:
I prefer to ride Flow bindings, but as for as strap bindings are concerned, these are the most comfortable pair I have ridden.

Strengths:
These bindings are super light and comfortable. The straps are soft, but will keep your feet locked in. This is my first pair of bindings with locking hi-backs, and although it is an extra step I like the feel that it provides. No heel lift at all. These bindings come with clear lexan plates that go over your mounting discs. They keep moisture from getting in there, as well as eliminate the ice that can form on the screws.

Weaknesses:
I think the release on the straps could be improved. Sometimes they come off no problem, other times it almost hurts my fingers.

Favorite place to ride:
Crystal Mountain

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:
2001

Summary:
All a round good bindings, my friends tested them out and they liked them allot. Oh yeah Victoria Ford says hi

Strengths:
Fast ratchets, very comfortable, very responsive on heelside turns, highback conforms to my boots very nicely.

Weaknesses:
ratchets tend to loosen sometimes but it's no big deal, could be better for toeside turns although it might just be my board.

DPQ bindings
