Summary:
Switch AX-8 bindings are proablly the best bindings for beginers, I have used them for around about 3 years now and i havent had alot of problems, Over in france was a differant story tho, the mass of powder caused them to stop 'stepin in' and this was annoying!

Strengths:
Style and confort are amazing!! Price is good and they are quick and easy to work.

Weaknesses:
In deep poweder off pieste they are a complete nitemare to get onto your boots!! Even with a qualified instructer fixing them!... ¬_¬

Reviewed by: Eric ,  Advanced , from New York, NY USA

Favorite place to ride:
Brighton, UT

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:
2000

Summary:
Although I have size 10 1/2 feet the binding's adjustable high back doesn't slide in enough to hug my Northwave Essential boots. The gap is close to an inch between the boot and the high back. If you have an aggressive forward lean on the high backs it puts all of the pressure on the meaty part of you calf when you do heelside turns. After long days of riding, you calf feel tenderized. Out of sheer frustration (and a crummy return policy) I removed high back from the the base plate and hacksawed an inch and a half of the alumnium off. This allowed me to slide the highback in against the boot.

Strengths:
Switch is the best step in system made.

Weaknesses:
I've made the huge mistake by buying the 'large' size bindings.

Favorite place to ride:

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:
2000

Summary:
my friends bought the burton SI .... but after a while.. they all said they were so jealous of my binding... because it's definitely easier to get out on switch

Moreover, the Vans Fenix boot is one of the most comfortable boots I've tried

Strengths:
easier in & out compare to burton
less snow clog (virtually nil so far) compare to K2
very good high back support
looks cool
that says it all

Weaknesses:
a little tricky to get in at first with the highback..
but i would still rather have the highback there than not

Favorite place to ride:
Northstar

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:
2000

Summary:
The highbacks make it a little hard to step-in while sitting. Guess I have to learn how to step-in on the lift chair. :) The side to side movement is very easy and the highbacks give me great support. The ski-check guy complimented my bindings and he had the Drake step-ins.

Strengths:
Easy entry and exit. Good highback support

Weaknesses:
The forward lean is a little hard to kick in, but I can get used to it.
