at Ebay Favorite place to ride: Snowshoe, WV Riding Style: All Mountain/Freeride Product Year: 2002 Summary: The Ion MD is the most comfortable step-in boot available, and provides excellent response, despite all of the "step-ins suck" rumours out there. I bought these because of the incredible deal I got (80 bucks for boots AND bindings online, beat that.), but stuck with them because they feel great and I love the burton stepin setup. Strengths: COMFORT is key! In my experience, the single most important factor in your setup is your boots. If they don't fit properly, you get minimal board response (your foot moves around, not the board,) and if they aren't comfortable, everything is pretty miserable. I have used other step in boots, and they are always stiffer than traditional boots. They have to be, because your foot isn't held as stiffly to the board by the bindings, so the boot takes up some of the slack there. This usually makes them uncomfortable, as in the case of the burton moto si or the k2 stepins, but these suckers are GREAT. They feel good on my feet, and I'm never dissapointed by the response I get. Weaknesses: They are still stiffer than regular soft boots, which some people are picky about. This sounds like a strange complaint, but my laces didn't come long enough and I had to replace them. Similar Products Used: K2 Stepins, burton moto (stay away from that one.)
