Summary: AMBUSH, the name says it all. This board is all about speed and control, definately unforgiving and will get the best of you if you let it. Its definately a solid choice for riders that want to up the ante in their all mountain riding.

Summary: had this board for a while now (ambush 164 ) and am still amazed at its versitilaty. I only rode a handful of hire boards before buying it but after the first day of getting used to the speed and control at high speed, my boarding just continues to improve. This board will give you the confidance to push yourself further than you thought you would go. I cannot recomend it highly enough.

Summary: I will start of with the Ambush is an average board All-Mountain board, but an outstanding purchase for the advanced beginner. Good all-around board for the average rider- ok in powder, nice on the groomed, serviceable in the park.
I bought the 160 Ambush board brand new off of Ebay for about $220 (steal of a deal) before the start of the 2005 season. It was the worst snow year Mt. Bachelor ever had, more ice days than powder days. The board was originally very stiff, held an edge on pretty much anything. Had decent pop and landed jumps well (small jumps mind you I am not invincible anymore). Powder days I would say it did all right, nose will submarine if not leaning back. For longer days riding in the powder and better float move the bindings back. So logged about 40 hard riding days (the all day at mountain kind of days) on the board.
The second year the board became a little soft. Has a significant amount of flex, more torsional flex. Which then in the choppy conditions didn’t have as much stability. Though I felt in the powder it carved a little nicer. So now it has about 65-70 days on the mountain and I am shopping for a new stiffer board. But all in all it served me well for those days.

2. Surface of deck began peeling off after four days of riding.
3. Seems less durable than previous board (Palmer).
4. Rides fine.
If I had it to do over again I'd try to find a board made in the USA instead of China.
