Summary: Great first board. Stiff and takes a beating with no delam or busted edges. Survived huge rocks in Banff. The board has saved my ass a couple times no doubt.
Strengths: Stiff, durable and easy to carve on hardpacked. Good spring to it and easy to jump with. More of freeride than a freestyle board...I find it harder to pull fakies and tricks.
Weaknesses: Too stiff for *tight turns in glades and *deeeep powder. Also a bit on the heavy side.

Summary: I bought my sims search 61 brand new @ a pawnshop for $79! It's an awsome board. Although I assume its primarily a backcountry board, I found it perfect for jumping and freestyle riding. It's the stiffest board I have ever ridden and extermely durable. I did however run into a tree after dropping off a jump at extremely high speed and I bent the metal edge in and puckered the base material. I'm sure that had it been another board that it would have broken or suffered more serious damage. Awsome board, no complaints.
Strengths: Super stiff for deep powder and absorbing hard landings. Awsome abs sidewall construction. Good board for any ride style.
Weaknesses: none

Product Year: 2000
Summary: A fine ride for cruising down a mountain as long as you don't need something that turns on a dime.
Strengths: My SIMS has a cool outerspace design rather than the crappy pink. Cool graphics. Sturdy, able to pound through different conditions (deep powder, ice, crud, etc). Fast on edges. Big board for a big person (250 lbs built like a middle linebacker). Carves well. Good at long sweeping turns. Good quality and construction. Good value - the $200 was for complete setup with boots and bindings at Gart's annual Sniagrab sale.
Weaknesses: Slow when you want to make tight turns. Just does not come around as quick as you might want. A bit heavy (mine is a 171 so thats just how it goes).
Strengths: I put in 3 seasons on my Search153, and its still a sweet board. Its best at carving and laying deep ruts in the corduroy, but i still take it in the park/pipe and jib with it all the time.
Weaknesses: Extruded base, easy to repair, but slow.

Summary: Most boarders desire a versitile board, and this is definately not it. If you don't way close to 200 lbs. don't even think about it. If you're looking for a pure carving board on groomed runs, great board at a good price.
Strengths: Great carving board. Very fast.
Weaknesses: Very specialized. Its only for carving groomed runs. Don't expect to be able to go into the park or into powder on this board.
