at Ebay Favorite place to ride: Schweitzer, ID Riding Style: All Mountain/Freeride Product Year: 2001 Summary: This is the 2001 model, black, with a chinese dragon in the middle, and a simple Santa Cruz on the bottom. I have the 172 cm board, and it is very stiff underfoot and very light. The nose and tail are a bit softer, which makes initiating turns a little easier. It carves like a dream at high speeds, not much chatter at all, very stable. In deep powder it floats unbelievably. I can hold an upright stance if I have enough speed. It's also good on jumps. I was hitting a 25 foot tabletop, and the landings were super stable. I'm 6'1", 175 pounds, and I ride pretty aggressively. The board has a narrow waist, but my size 11 boots aren't anywhere near dragging. This board is most comparable to the flex of the Mountain, but has the transition speed of the Fastback, and it is a much better carver than both. Strengths: Awesome float in powder. Very, very fast in pow and groomed. Narrow waist = lightning quick transition for a board this size. Easy to land. No chatter/good edge grip. Weaknesses: Not good for sharp turns in powder; it's a little to stiff for that. I don't take this board into dense trees. Similar Products Used: Salomon:Fastback, Prospect, Regulate.
