Price Paid:  $500.00

Summary:
This is by far the best board on the market. I've worked at a ski shop in Chamonix and have demoed many boards over the years and this thing had it all. I ride the 168 but I'm pretty heavy and aggressive so deep pow is tough but other than that it rails like its on train tracks!! Ultra resistant base as well. I've hit many rocks and it just scuffs the base where many other boards would have blown an edge. Great board!!

Price Paid:  $250.00 at Olympia Esports, Pas

Favorite place to ride:
Chamonix, LesDeuxAlpes

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:
2001

Summary:
I bought it tax free in Andorra 3 years ago. The price included Elan bindings. The board delaminated this year after about 7w of riding. The Elan bindings fell to pieces almost as soon as they left the shop. The latest vertigo looks a lot better (and costs a lot more !)

Strengths:
Cheap. Shock absorbers build in.

Weaknesses:
Easy to delam. Heavy.

Price Paid:  $524.00 at Ride on, Silver Star

Favorite place to ride:
Silverstar Mountain, Vernon, BC

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:
2001

Summary:
I'm not a big guy, but teh control I got out of the vertigo 164 at incredibly high speeds was aawesome. It floats in the powder, and goes through moguls. I really like the 3mm damper pads (gel or something) under the bindings. They cussion your landings, adn also break up the board so that you get excellent flex in the tip and tail, while maintaining a very stiff carving edge. Huge sidecut and a very narrow waist make this a board to go fast on. Elan's marketting sucks (for snowboards) but I hope that they continue to make excellent boards like this one. It was better for me than the Burton Cascade 163 (too flexy) and over $100 CDN less.

love it!

Strengths:
great carver
cussioned landings
vert core (very stiff edge)
good flex in tip and tail
very responsive

Weaknesses:
slightly heavy
a little long in the trees at times (ouch)

Price Paid:  $500.00 at katmandu

Favorite place to ride:
Whistler

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:
2001

Summary:
The board is a dream and seems tough. No, it's not that heavy for jumping and tricking. Russ at Katmandu rocks and I demoed several boards from other companies until I fell in love with this one.

Strengths:
This board can rail through any time of terrain without chatter or bouncing around. It is the best speed ride ever, is smooth and responsive in trees, and jump turns on steeps very predictably. I love the confidence the board give me in the air. It is always there for you.

Weaknesses:
Ski company stigma. The boards may not seem as hip as the small makers.
