Nitro Magnum 2001

Nitro Magnum 2001

Description
In places like alaska and the pacific northwest, the Magnum has become the wide board of choice for larger riders. This board transitions easily from edge-to-edge and won’t fold up in deep, heavy snow...

the only disadantage is the weight whitch you don´t really need if want to turn fast in the air,so you need much force to control it to a 720 ...

Product Year:

Summary:
The board looks nice , and rides allright .
Still it's a pain in the ass to buy a board before ever testing it.
If you want to buy a board i recommend a testing weekend where you can try different materials.
Since i only ride 2 - 3 weeks a year for about 5 years now i'm not heavily experienced with other boards.
I learned boarding on a nidecker slalom board which was very stiff. When you get to a freeride board with softboots like this it's quite easy to control because the board compensates errors you might make .
I still had a nice week of riding on this board and i think it's a nice board for the allround boarder that doesn't test the board on maximum pressures and strenght, but just wants to ride and catch a jump every now and them.

Strengths:
nice looks , great corrections with imperfect movement.

Weaknesses:
i didn't find any inperfections on this board (magnum 165)
but my back-binding screws got loose on day three because of heavy snow and active turning-behaviour from my side.

Favorite place to ride:

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:

Summary:
The cap construction is weak as butter (I weigh 205 lbs) and broke it. I got warranty. Thumbs up for Nitro, thumps down for their engineers.

Strengths:
This board rides well, but that doesn't matter; read weakenesses.

Weaknesses:
PEOPLE DON'T BUY THIS BOARD! I'll explain. I bought the magnum 171 last september and spent about 25 days on the board. When I was about to wax it for the second time, I noticed that there were 4 cracks right above the steel, along the entire backside edge. The cracks were about 2-3 inches long and a few mm high. You could actually look inside the board! The cap construction was splitting in half.
I contacted Nitro and they admitted the cap construction wasn't strong enough. Next year they'll go back to the normal sidewall construction, which Nitro said, will be much stronger. It was a construction mistake so I got my warranty. (Nitro boards have 2 years warranty) I'll get a new Nitro next season. It won't be a Magnum cause it doesn't come in a 171 next year. (167 will be the longest) So I'll take a Atlas 171 (this year 164 is the longest Atlas) which is a better and more expensive board.

Favorite place to ride:

Riding Style:
All Mountain/Freeride

Product Year:

Summary:
I lucky last week with some great powder in Utah. I'm not as big rider as the board is aimed at, 150lb(66kg) and 5'10"(180cm) but I loved this board. It sailed thru everything and it's quick to turn. I got the 159 version and like the grey colour. Because of the width I will still use my old board on crappy icy days but this board rocks on big white days. The construction seen pretty solid.

Strengths:
Light yet stable, great on powder but still handy on groomed stuff, nice colours and design.

Weaknesses:
The laminate on top is a little bumpy but still great..
