Buy gear in the Marketplace

Here it is--everything you need to prepare for your first winter camping excursion. Not all items listed are needed for every trip. Pack only what you need and leave the rest at home.

Packs

Enjoying the winter wilderness requires extra preparation.

Large internal frame pack (5600 cubic inches or larger). External packs will work in a pinch, but take a header in the snow, and the frame rapping you on the backside of the head will be a quick reminder of why internal is better.
Stuff sacks of all sizes and colors to assist in organizing gear.
Rain cover for your pack. Nylon is best, but in a pinch, garbage bags work just fine.

Shelter

Better have a sturdy four-season tent for weather like this!

Four-season tent
Snow stakes for each tent
Wisk broom
Spare tent poles
