This vest works well with a fleece (I use Mountain Hardwear Monkey Phur) in most cooler conditions. The vest is windproof and will withstand all but the hardest rain. Fits tight and to the waist, and it moves well. The fabric is abrasion resistant. It's not "warm" by itself, but it retains core heat during physical activities. It's one of my favorite pieces.
