Strength:

Light weight, excellent hardware, these are not toys, serious tools for tight areas with tree cover.

Weakness:

Sad to say but these are no longer made,if you find one you better buy it because they will be no more. The spl is nicer looking than my slt.

Model is a 6'3" spl 3 weight.I purchased this rod on a whim after buying another sage rod it's replacement the slt in the same length and weight. Both are way fun to use, every fish fights well, componants are first rate, and both cast a little diiferently i suppose because of the graphite III verces graphite IV.

A deal at any price. The most perfect rod I have ever cast. I have 8 rods and use the SPLCA 389 75% of the time. From inchers in the Flathead to a 25 inch brown on the Mo, this rod has handled it all. While I wouldn't suggest going after larger game on a regular basis (as much for the fish's sake as the rods), trout up to 20 inches are a joy on this rod.

Customer Service

Sage has superb customer service if you don't mind the new service fee (I think 30 bucks or so)

Strength:

Versatility and ability to lay down light tippets with utter grace. Its ability to make 6-9 inch trout feel like giants and makes giants that much more memorable.

Weakness:

They have just been discontinued by SAGE.

A beautiful rod. I have fished with so many 3 weight rods that really left something to be desired. Not so with the Sage. This is a sweet little sucker. I use it not only for trickling little streams with fish no larger than 7 inches all the way up to the larger fast flowing waters out here in the west. While not really designed to toss out larger flys or work well in a stiff wind. I have found that by modifying a few techniques a three weight will do in most conditions. Just yesterday I landed a beautiful chinook and a georgeous steelie on this rod. Yes it did look like it was going to break the rod but man what a fight. And yes this rod even can toss some larger streamers if careful.
