Strength:

Delicate tip coupled with a strong backbone. I use it for small panfish all the way to largemouth bass. I also use it for trout when I get the chance.

Weakness:

None

This is a great rod. It delicately casts small dry flies and nymphs with precision and throws weighted streamers with authority. It is an awesome rod and handles just about every situation well.

Customer Service

Great. Prompt and helpful service.

Strength:

Nothing left to say, except maybe that it''s beautiful, too.

Weakness:

No good for Albacore fishing :)

Every once in a great while a rod comes along that transcends the details, that is much more than the some of its parts; that has soul. The SPL 4 wt ( I have the 8''9" 3-piece), is soooo smooth, soooo accurate. Developes line speed for surprising length when you need it, yet is capable of a delicacy that is unsurpassed in my experience. Great feel with small fish and plenty of backbone for big ones, with a sensitive enough tip that it will overcome your blunders for you. It seems to know my mind and every cast, every mend is executed just the way I envisioned. I''ve been fishing for a lot of years and have accumulated a number of fine rods, but increasingly they are gathering dust - I find I''m using the SPL for about everything, except maybe fishng in gale force winds, it''s that good and that versatile. Not, perhaps, the rod for the initiated, but if you let it work the way it can, it''s pure magic. Can I give it 10 stars? An utterly amazing rod!

Customer Service

haven''t had to use it, but backed by lifetime waranty and Sage''s reputation.
