Strength:

I have built this rod from BLANK 486-4. It is my First Choice #4wt, rod. I can adjust its functionality to any situation a #4 flyrod may be challenged.

Weakness:

Besides price, reason that made me choose the “BLANK” option, is, just for some people, the Moss Green colour of graphite materials. Not for every-angler´s casting sytle.

I think the 4 piece version on the 8.5 footer (of the #4 XP) is the best move of manufacturer. It is a great rod to use from small quiet ponds to windy lakes. Has enough accuracy for dry-fly-fishing and the casting power to deliver your favourite streamer far in any lake.

Customer Service

Used not for broken rod, but for information and more specifications on products. Very helpful.

Strength:

Nice,Nice finish and hardware, great warranty, a company that will be around for years to come just in case you need them.Just think $500.00 for a lifetime of enjoyment, pretty cheap don''t you think...

Weakness:

The only thing, but not a weakness is the snake guides on the sage, i''m use to the single foot guides on the loomis.

This review is on the xp764 model.I bought this rod as a nymph, indicator rod and also for use with panfish poppers. It excels using both. I have a loomis glx in the same action, but this rod is even faster than the loomis to throw the heavier wind resistant flys. Believe i have two of the top rods for both situations for N.C. trout.

Strength:

Excellent finish, nice hardware, better warranty than my loomis''. This is one heavy duty four weight and the action is close to the loomis ,except faster!!! Just point and shoot!!!

Weakness:

Not a weakness, but i''m more fond of the single foot guides over the double foot snakes on the sage.

xp764.I first bought this rod because i wanted a fast action rod in the shorter model for fishing tight streams. It has been excellent for beadhead nymphs to even panfish poppers.Much better than the glx loomis i currently own for heavier flies, but i''ll keep the loomis for drys!

Strength:

Distance, accuracy

Weakness:

I wish I had a 4 piece.

I love this rod. I have the 490 XP and wouldn''t give it up. Throws great, power to spare, accuracy and feel galore. I cast a lot of rods at the store and haven''t found anything else I''d rather fish. It''s not a rod for the beginner or inexperienced caster, it''s a high performance tool.

Customer Service

Not great. They''ve been adequate, but I''d give them a B-. Their rods are great though
