I love this rod!!! I have the 8'6" 5 wt. and use it for virtually all of my trout fishing. I would say that it's closer to medium action than fast action. I casts with accuracy and it's great for longer casts as well. My other 5 wts. offer no comparison. I have a Heritage that's an absolute cannon but lacks the up close touch that this rod has. This is definitely my go to rod as far as trout are concerned.

Customer Service

We'll see in a few weeks, although I've heard that it's great!!!

Strength:

Fast, but not to the point of ripping those fish lips and breaking tippit. Perfect line command.

Weakness:

None

Excellent rod, responds quickly and sends the line anywhere you could want it. Before buying, I cast several of the over priced and well-known "parking-lot" rods. In the end, I went for the SAS. The 6wt was a bit too fast, but the 5wt seemed perfect. Try this rod, it performs very well.

Customer Service

No need for them yet.

Strength:

This is a very durable and multy task rod. I have caught fish with it weather i was throwing drys, nymphing, and streamers. I have not found a situation yet where this rod has not performed for me.

Weakness:

I have not found any yet.

I have owned this rod for 6 years and it has not failed me yet. It has handled fish from 10" to over 20" with ease. I have casted many other brands of rods at fly fishing shows and nothing compares to the scott in its price range. I liked this rod so much that I also purchased an SAS 3 weight and a SAS 6 weight.

Customer Service

Great!!! I split the cork on the handle of my 3 weight. I sent the rod in and they replaced the entire but section including reel seat and I had my rod back in 2 1/2 weeks as good as new.

Sage,Orvis Have only casted these at fly fishing shows but in both cases I had to get up to rods that cost 3 to 4 times as much as the Scott to get to something that casted and felt even close.

Great ROd for the $, would be a great rod if it cost more too! What it lacks in looks it makes up for in performance. The action allows accurate casts but also can heave a fly if you have to.

Customer Service

TBD- hopefullt not!

Strength:

Very versatile and easy to cast

Weakness:

Tough to get flies to cut through any breezes

This is a great rod. Mine is a five piece travel rod. It has caught up t ofive ound fish with ease. When my 5 wt Sage RPL+ 4 pc. travel rod broke on the same size fish, the Scott was able to handle the stress and help me land the unexpected 'beast'. A little slower action that I'd like, but I have fished from 3x to 7x tippet (with 12 ft. leader)and the rod handles that entire range.

Customer Service

Have not had a chance to use it.

Strength:

Great Value (I got mine on a killer sale to boot), good line control, and smooth casting.

Weakness:

Horizontal dampening could be better, but is that worth another $200-300? Also the reel seat could lock better ...

This is a great rod for those looking for value with minimal loss of quality. I find the feel of the rod to be similar to rods in the $300-350 range, but the SAS casts just as far and acuarate as these other rods. I have owned this rod for about one year and have enjoyed everyday of its use!

Strength:

Good for open loops and mid-range casting. Can zing line for advanced caster with wt-forward line.

Weakness:

Accuracfy is only so-so. Side-arm cast tend to over-turn line.

Excellent external ferrule design. Performs as good as Sage $450 dollar rod. Forgiving rod for beginner and intermediate casters.

Customer Service

Excellent, or so I've heard.
