This is my third Casio 1200. I am a pilot but I use it everyday. Great watch and am looking for one for my son-in-law

I just got my Casio watch new at www.top-one.com and the back light is just a light on the right side. If any one has the Casio 1170 ACT-1100 then please check your light and see if its olny a light on the right side. E-mail me and tell me what side its on our if its on both sides.

I had mine for 5 years now and for the first 4 years, I think its performance is within my expectation. On its 5th year, I have to replace its LCD because its becoming a bit hazy due to wear and tear. Mine have a durable wooven nylon strap (standard of the first issue) that basically elimates the other reviewer''s problem of weak straps. Although I think this is a great gizmo, It does have a flaw. It is its thermo. To get a really good accurate reading you have to take the watch off your wrist since the thermo seem to measure your body temp instead of the ambient temp.

Watch works good, but the strap broke. This is not the first time I had these plastic straps go bad on my CASIOs. I am looking for a more reliable strap. Otherwise I used to take the watch skiing, camping, hiking, swimming, kayaking, running -- it is still going. Changed batteries once in over 4 years. 5 alarms are great! Although design is not streamlined, the watch is well built and can take a beating.

Customer Service

Haven't dealt with Casio, cuz the it is way out of warranty. And I think I will go with an aftermarket strap next time.

I have been using this watch for the past 6 years and have put it thru about all kinds of conditions mostly in mountain climbing and trail blazing in the mountains over here in Malaysia. I find the watch really useful especially the altimeter which is fairly accurate.
The digital compass comes in very handy too so is the theremometer, but it takes about 30 mins to get an accurate temperature. I used the watch quite often and thus far i have changed the batteries 3 times in 6 years!! So far this watch have never failed me!!
Good stuff!!!

I have had this watch for 5 years, and have enjoyed it. The problems I see with it is that it is very bulky, and it really likes it's batteries. Also, the thermometer doesn't have a very good temperature range.

This watch has everything except a hygrometer. The altimeter is very accurate, the barometer is somewhat accurate but the thermometer needs a lot of time to get the correct temperature correct. You'll have to be in the same room for about 25 minutes in order for the thermometer to be stable enough to get the correct temperature. When that happens, get a normal mercury thermometer and make a thermometer adjustment from the readin g of the mercury thermometer to the casio watch. It should read the new temp and work its way around that new temperature but you might have to do that again here and there.
Anyway, this watch has several nice features from weather instruments to 5 alarms and a stopwatch.
The watch is somewhat big and bulky.
I bought it brand new from eBay for only #134.95 TOTAL which already included the shipping & Handling!

I previously had a Casio thermometer watch from like 8 years ago and worked similar to this one with the thermometer adjustments n' stuff. The thermomoeter was more accurate with the older model (this one).
