Kelty Dart Bivy Tents

Kelty Dart Bivy Tents

DESCRIPTION

This solo, single-wall backpacking tent is ultralight, yet still spacious enough to be a comfortable shelter from the storm. DAC Featherlite® aluminum poles are specially engineered to be strong, yet 10 - 15% lighter than standard premium aluminum poles. Factory-taped, no-sag, coated polyester ceiling and coated nylon floor offer solid weather protection; integral vestibule for gear stowage. No-see-um mesh panel with roll-back mini-fly, two side vents and hooded vent at the foot allow airflow, preventing condensation. ArcEdge™ floor has specially-designed, watertight perimeter seams that stay up off the wet ground. Kelty's attention to detail shows with features such as their noiseless, reflective zipper pulls.

I used this tent once in mid-50 degree weather. The positive is that it is an inexpensive lightweight tent for backpacking. The downside was that our sleeping bags were damp from condensation that collected on the inside of the tent. It possibly make work well for one person, but with two people in the tent there is minimal air circulation.

My most enjoyable experience with my Dart was throwing it away! I was costantly wet, even in dry conditions. my sleeping bag was socked in the morning. The Dart does not breath at all. Spending time in the shelter in a rain storm is less than pleasant. I am going to try a tarp in cold weather and a light weight tent made from parachute material in bug season.
