Very good compass, particularly liked the adjustable declination setting. Didn't like the bits of plastic supposed to secure the lanyard.Like most people I guess, I tied a knot in the cord and threw away the plastic bits.

Even though is it a sighting compass I wish Suunto would make the mirror detachable. This would make the unit more versatile (orienteering etc.).

Not a sighting compass, but the one I use most is a Silva Silva Eclipse 99 which is far superior but more expensive.

Also use a Silva Militaire 4b: NATO: 6400/360 tritium but this is, of course, in a different league.

Excellent compass, although on the large side. The lid protects it well, as it takes a beating my my field - Search and Rescue. I highly recommend this compass, and it is worth the price.

A good compass. It ranks about the same as the Silva or Nexus mirror sight compasses. The bezel design makes it harder to rotate than the competition. It would be a better compass if it had a way to read the back bearing simultaneously after sighting the compass, like the Brunton 8099.
