This pack loads well and is relatively comfortable. It has much room and is easy to get gear in and out of.

I have a Gregory internal frame pack I use for technical type trips(Mt. Blanc), but I like this pack for consumer friendly trails like we have in Southern California.

I've been using the Gregory for about 4 years on mountain trail hikes with great succes . The flexible external frame is more comfortable to me than an internal frame pack, particularly since I'm using it on trails not in mountain climbing. GREAT hip belt and straps. You can stack lots of stuffon the top. Very good for a long day with 50+ lbs. You will want to have your water on a belt or clip-on, not on the pack, if you want to reach it without help.

I thru-hiked the AT (southbound) in '97 wearing this, my first real pack. The Evolution is bombproof and carries all that you can stuff into (and lash onto) it. The only drawback is lack of access to water bottle holsters. My next pack will no doubt be a Gregory!

Customer Service

Gregory replaced my hipbelt, no charge, at McKenzie Outfitters in Lincoln, NH. Great service from both!
