Mainly used for vehicle navigation with a notebook computer, this unit has performed very well and has exceeded my expectations in terms of convenience. With the antenna and power/data jacks this is a great GPS for those interested in more sophisticated applications. I use a magentic-mount SM66 active antenna when driving - great recovery when travelling through tunnels and mountainous regions.

I have used this unit occasionly while hiking and it has performed well, even under unbroken tree cover.

For navigation software Garmin seems the recognized standard.

Much more compact and accessibly design than the competition.

I compared this unit to comparibly priced Magellan units, and found Garmin offered far better value-for-money.
