First of all, I had alrady used extensively the unit of a friend. (In case of you already read my GPS III+ Brief Review).

The price is based on a "All in one Buy (With accesories)", without the lock key of the Street CD. It costs $ 600.00 of all maps (The one we have).

The unit is a complete Cookie Monster of batteries. It can drain 6 in a couple of hours.

One Ergonomic thing is that the batteries are inserted in a non standard and simply way. So be careful.

Because of the construction, simply avoid any moisture of it. If some of you are saying thah Garmin III+ is delicate, this is a princess.

The operating is US are supperb. The software even points you streets with numbers. (For a Non US resident this is the holy grail, Because of the Freeway and Highway exits).

The operation outside of US is average, Is a GPS III+ Clone-

The memories are good. but Why we can not send waypoints, routes and tracks within? Who knows.

We had to use the serial cable to do so, and a second comment is that you can not use the AC-Adapter and the serial cable at one time. You have to purchase and Y adapter.

A bad move, from Garmin.

The unit also talks to you, so this is quite convenient in driving.

(A GPS III+ fault, so much "acknowdeges").

The cup base is HUGE. so this is a Car unit. So I recommend the external antenna.

For non-US residents. Try to avoid this Apparatus, if not, you have to buy more CD's and some of the capabilities are only for US.

And a little comment more. I think there is expensive the unlock of the StreetPilot CD All maps. Please consider this also with the price of the unit.

I bought the StreetPilot 3, the replacement for this unit. The main difference is sound out. Love it. New the unit is around $1300, got it online for $725. The full unlock for the maps is $300, on line if you search it's $225. Driving around the roads in city the unit holds the street your on, and gives you voice commands on which way, distance ect. Does a good job of it.
Bad, does a few things bad. I take one highway home, the GPS wants me to take a different one, if we disagree it trys to steer me to it rather than accept I might be right or redraw the route using the highway I am on. To get it to change and use the route is very difficult and I have yet to figure out how to do it. Pretty happy with it, would buy one again.
