I run on a treadmill and also enjoy biking, rollerblading and walking outdoors. The Polar Target is easy to read in daytime or indoor lighting. Current pulse or time can be easily toggled by holding the watch close to the chest for a second or two. Setting the upper and lower heart rates is simple. The watch beeps audibly when you drop below or go above your set limits. I haven't found a way to turn the beeping off when I'm outdoors walking, so I just set the range for 25 (low) to 240 (high)- a minor annoyance. I have compared the monitor results to equipment at my gym and they are always within a couple of beats of each other, although rarely exactly the same. It seems to update quickly as I ease up or increase my intensity, and I haven't noticed any interference from monitors used by other gym members(and we are packed like sardines) or from the treadmill monitors. I have worn it for 24 hours straight on more than one occasion and it has worked just fine without my needing to re-moisturize the contacts. I think it should be priced a bit lower or perhaps at least include backlighting for the price. I have no major complaints.

This Heart Rate Monitor has the basic functions of Time, Daily Alarm and High and Low Heart rate limits.
Essentially, it will beep if your heart rate rises out of your zone and may be overtraining and perhaps hurting your heart, and beeps when you are not working hard enough.
This watch is a breeze to program and the high and low limits provide an interesting way to keep motivated.
The watch has allowed me to reach all of my exercise goals with less "plateauing" that I have experienced with traditional methods.
This watch is an excellent value with all the essential functions for a workout. It has no frilly features that I would be unlikely to use, just the features I need at a good price.
